I am so excited to begin a journey in independent reading with you! Below are the quarterly reading requirements and activities that you will participate in for Language Arts credit. You have many options for reading both fiction and nonfiction: read a book from home, visit a library to check out a book, read on a device (phone, Kindle, etc.), audiobooks (listen to books on Audible app, for example) visit our DATA library catalog of "eBooks" (electronic books) to check out to read online (how to check out e-book), or check out eBooks and Audiobooks from the "Cloud Library" from the Ventura County Library (online here)--see step-by-step "How to" (scroll down)!
Each student's goal is to read at least 2 books each quarter (books of 250+ pages) and complete periodical written or video reading reflections using the "Reading Reflection Apps" (sneak peek below) on both fiction and informational texts. Independent reading books are to be read at home at least 20 minutes every night for homework. Students will also promote their books on a class "Bookshelf" Padlet for all classmates' to enjoy. Happy reading!
