ABOUT MS. LUKINS:
A PERSONAL NOTE TO MY STUDENTS...
Let me tell you a bit about your teacher...That's me! I'm Miss Lukins, and I have been a Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at De Anza now since 2001. I have taught both 7th and 8th grades and am currently teaching 7th grade. I absolutely LOVE my job being your teacher! Yes, it is challenging work at times, but my greatest reward is to see you, my students, succeed! An interesting story about choosing my career is that when I was in college, I had set out to be a PE teacher and a coach. However, I didn't enjoy the science classes I had to take to become a PE teacher, and so I decided to study subjects that I really enjoyed and ended up with a major in English and a minor in Art, which are subjects that I now love to teach. As you know, I love to incorporate as many artistic projects as I can into your Language Arts and Social Studies classes. Outside of school, a few of my hobbies and passions include traveling, photography, reading, and collecting antique books (still looking for my favorite...Frankenstein by Mary Shelley). I have traveled to several countries including Mexico, Canada, England, Germany, France, Russia, Bosnia, and Australia. The next place on my list is New Zealand! I love taking photos of flowers and butterflies and have even gotten a few of my photos published online for a magazine! Well, that's all for now! I hope to get to know you even better as we learn together this year!
